In the past week I have managed to watch a ton of movies! (In general if you want to know if I have seen a movie the answer is no unless it is a children's movie... and even then...)

After Christmas dinner we saw The Pacifier. I remember when it came out, I thought it looked absolutely awful. Turns out it was not nearly as bad as I feared. I am glad I didn't see it in the theater either, but for something to watch sitting around with my 6 year old sister and step-brothers, it wasn't bad. Also I got a bunch done on the lace shrug I am working on.

Sadly on that monday when I was going to go see RENT with my sister (not the 6 year old), there were no theaters closer than Somerville playing it and she didn't want to travel that far. I went to see it myself on wednesday at the Capitol Theater in East Arlington. I am so glad I went even if I had to go by meself! This has definately pushed my decision on which version of the soundtrack to get (no I have not decided). I tried to knit a simple hat during this movie, but in the end it was too captivating and I had to give up before the mistakes drove me batty.

Thursday [livejournal.com profile] missamay stayed over. We watched the copy of March of the Penguins I had gotten from Roger at Solstice. The poor thing was so tired so fell asleep pretty much right after it started. I made it most of the way through until the very end. I am sure I will see it again at some point since we own it though. Penguins rock!

Then on friday [livejournal.com profile] missamay kidnapped me for a few days. We watched The Fantastic Four and Mr. and Mrs. Smith at [livejournal.com profile] dreamspinner04's house. I hadn't seen either. Happily that meant that much more knitting on the shrug was done. The Fantastic Four I thought was good, and I got to see the packbot in Mr. and Mrs. Smith which made me happy. I don't think that I would have seen the second movie in particular in the theater.

Saturday [livejournal.com profile] missamay and 2 friends went with me to see Memoirs of a Geisha, which was excellent. I can see the critisism about how chinese the cast was, but the acting (and in somecases dancing) ability is more important to me. In this regard I feel the casting was wonderful. Yes there were differences from the book, but almost all of the changes/abridgments were reasonable. Only near the end might an omission have been a really significant. The war period could have been explained a little better though it was ok. All and all, I am very glad to have gone to see it.

Serenity was put on at a New Years Party. It was good, but I still have yet to see any episodes of Firefly.

Note: I am too cold to type more as this got longish and our heat seems to be out. I am going to crawl into bed where it is warmer.
