LJ Interests meme

  1. anime:
I enjoy anime a great deal, but do not have as much of a chance to enjoy it as I may like. This come both from lack of time and lack of funds.
  2. bookcrossing:
Yup I am crazy, but this is a lot of fun. It helps me to "let go" of the many books that wander into my life (though of course there are favorites that stay with me). A lot of what I read is one-read fantasy so this helps keep my bookshelves under control, plus it is super exciting to get a journal entry for books that have been released (wild or not).
  3. catalysis:
This is the area of my research, and is very interesting in general. In the specifics (like many things) it is not always so much.
  4. chemistry:
This was one of my undergraduate majors. I wish I could say I used this more, but if you need a NMR magnet shimmed let me know!
  5. corsets:
I really like corsets, both for aesthetics and back support *grin*. I am still waiting to invest in a custom one, but I will one of these days.
  6. fantasy:
I read lots of it. See "reading" below.
  7. knitting:
I do this all the time, as evidenced by the fact that I am always seen doing it and the huge yarn stash that does manage to get a good degree of rotation. Right now for the most part I am working on quilt squares for various charitable organizations including the Network/La Red. I need to get working on some of those christmas gifts though.
  8. mediaeval baebes:
Wonderful musical group that has changed in membership over the years, but tends to keep with the theme of all women vocals. I used to do madrigal singing and love when I recognize some of their songs from that.
  9. reading:
I read about 2-3 books a week on average just in bus reading, more in vacation/free periods. This feeds the bookcrossing habit (see above).
  10. sewing:
I don't so enough of this, because other projects always take my attention first. Having said that I need to do this more, especially since I have yet to make those curtains for our sliding glass door that I said I would months ago.

Medieval Baebes is a favorite in our house too. Do you like Garmarna?

I do not know of them. Are they of a similar sort?

They're a Swedish band doing somewhat dark folk-rock. Imagine a Nordic version of Steeleye Span. Next time you're over I'll have to play some for you.

8. mediaeval babes

This sounds like music I'd love - do they have a website, and/or can you get their stuff locally or online? Any particular CD of theirs you'd recommend over the others?

Here (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/search-handle-url/ref=pd_sc/103-9144100-3409441?index=blended&field-keywords=mediaeval%20baebe) is a link to their works as listed on Amazon (http://www.amazon.com). Both Roger's and my favorite album is Undrentide.
