weekend

I spent most of saturday at a local red cross drive that [livejournal.com profile] first_clark was organizing. It was a busy day, but good in many ways. Tab and I also got a chance to play with the scripts for Twelfth Night that [livejournal.com profile] first_clark had been working on. If we can get donors to use these, it will be a lot of fun, but I admit to being a bit put off by one grumpy woman who was really annoyed by it. You can't make everyone happy I suppose.

That afternoon/evening we went to Costco (and spent under $100, impossible!) and went to see Eragon. I almost wish I hadn't read the book first. It was decent, but had little to do with the book other than sharing the same characters.

Today was good too. I sang in the choir for the first time in a while. Pretty much the whole of December was impossible for me. Ironically most of the music was about snowfall. It was good to be back, though, especially as I will miss next weekend for Arisia. Thankfully the choir isn't singing next weekend so I won't miss that, just the service.

I had a few books to catch up with for the end of the year, but not too many. It has been a good year in terms of books, though this next year may see me reading less due to research, thesis writing and other deadlines. It looks like my bus reading time needs to give way to more article reading, which makes me slightly sad as I really value this time for myself.

I spent some quality time today in the bowels of the library, the furthest depths of which is where they hide the science periodicals. Perhaps they are radioactive or something. Perhaps what we really need are old salt minds.

In any event I headed down in good spirits. I was organized. I had all of my call numbers, years, journal titles, volumes, numbers, article titles. The first one tried to lull me into a sense of false security; it was on a nice low shelf. The rest however plotted to all be on the top shelves with out so much as a single step stool in sight. Life is hard. But I persevered and now have all of the articles I went down there to hunt. Success despite the plot of the tall people!

Ok enough library adventure for one day. I have to head back to the health center, pick up a prescription before I can get back to work.
