Apple Picking
Oct. 7th, 2006 09:46 pmToday was a good day. We slept in a little, then we were off to go apple picking. We went to the Nashoba Valley Winery and picked about a bushel of apples for ourselves in the company of
thanos73, E, J and their friends D & B. We also picked uo a case of sparkling apple wine. My favorites were the Roxbury Russets. I think they will make great cooking apples, but I like their tartness and texture even for eating raw. Afterwards we went and bought another half bushel of MacIntosh apples, a gallon of apple cider and some winter squash.
After all the apple-y-ness we had dinner at the Royal East in Cambridge. I totally forgot just how nuch I love that restaurant. I am overfull now though and just want to lay down and get my belly rubbed. Instead I should be preping apples for apple sauce and apple butter and perhaps some chile peppers for pickling.
