Batch of Chili

Has anyone here actually been able to make a small batch of chili? I am about ready to declare it impossible.

The way I make chili (and many other things) it's too much trouble for a small batch. Making a lot amortizes out my cooking time heavily. (So I guess the real answer is, I've never really tried.)
