Foot Size

Ok are you all feeling up for a weird request? I have been reading yarnharlot's 3rd book Knitting Rules! and she mentions that a good rule of thumb (foot?) for the length of someone's foot is that it is usually the same length as your arm from elbow to wrist. So, wanting to test this idea and not having roommates to think I was crazy I looked to see if this was true for me.

Either I have small feet or long forearms apparently. My feet are about 2" shorter. Can other people try this and let me know what you find?

My feet are a little over an inch shorter (and that's measured to the tip of my big toe.)

If she's talking from wrist to inner elbow crease, as opposed to actual elbow, mine are dead on. Except for that pesky freak index toe that's a good 1/4" longer than my big toe on my right foot.

I so need to get her books. Someone at the Alpaca show the other weekend was raving about them too. Mind you, this someone owns one of the LYS's, so of course she's rave about them, but it's still good praise. ;)

Mu forearms are way longer than my feet. It's obvious just by looking.

Yeah, I said the same thing. And then I measured. Measuring from the crease on the inside of my elbow, to my wrist, it turned out to be the same as the length of my foot (within the margin of error of my technique). If I measured to the point of my elbow on the outside of the arm, then that was longer.

Elbow to wrist is 29 cm.

Foot is 25.5 cm.

Converted to inches it's about a two inch difference!

My foot is the same from the crease/crook of the elbow to the inner wrist.
