Just to horrify the non knitters/crocheters of you out there...
I have been inventorying my sock yarn. So far I have counted 15km in just sock yarn, and I have not yet starting counting the Regia (my most numerous sock yarn manufacturer). Stay tuned to my craft blog if you are interested in what the sock yarn total mileage ends up being.

Yay! Americans measure at least one thing in kilometres!

I believe you. My mother has a large box of spools of thread. I think if I counted the stated lengths of thread on each spool, they will span a considerable distance as well.

Ha! Actually most sock yarn here is measured in grams and yards, which makes no sense at all to me. I converted to km since it is easier to work with. (It is all the science/engineering training I guess.)

Wow. That's a good clip of sock yarn. Impressive.

I've only got what I bought when I was attempting to teach myself to knit a couple years back. Might give it another go. I keep seeing sweaters and scarves I'd like to have, so there's some motivation.
