Arisia - Part 2
Jan. 22nd, 2005 10:02 amFinished up my volunteering early yesterday afternoon. An unfortunate side affect is that I have this want-to-be writer who is following me around now. Well not exactly, just every time her sees me he stops me to ask about writing workshops and asks if I have seen any profession writers he can talk to. Now other than working and drum circle I only managed to use public transportation for 4 hours (going to pick up Tabby and back) and go to Fast Track (kids) events. So basically I have seen little of the "grown-up" con so far. Which is fine with me except for this guy who keeps stopping me. Gah this "clue" badge I am wearing is dangerous.
The drum circle was wonderful. The energy was high, and there was a wonderful mix of people. There were people of all different sizes. And there were all different ages from 9 months to about 90 years old. Both men and women danced and drummed. I really enjoyed it. I was a little sad that I didn't get to dance though. Tab spent a lot of the time slot playing with a new friend, which meant that I had to keep an eye on them instead. Their games consisted of a lot of running around and hiding. The only way I would have been comfortable dancing was if Tab was with me so that I could see her. Yup its already not as cool to dance with your mom. At the end we were encouraged to take a stone, shell or feather from the alter. I took one and donated it to Ops that read "Relax".
After I left though I realized that I had left my shirt in the Ops room. I finally turned in my volunteer shirt in early enough that I could get one that really fit (a small), and then I left it in there. I called but they could only find a medium. I am not sure if some one left that one by picking up mine by mistake. Oh well I guess this is just a sign I should have been more organized with my stuff.
