Sock Pattern Poll

I am looking for a good pattern to use a nearly solid sock yarn I bought at Loop on our family vacation. The color variation is super subtle, so I was thinking of something with good texture or lace. This pair is for me so adaptation isn't a huge hardship. I plan on adapting the pattern to be toe-up if it is not already so.

Does anyone else plan on going to the Boston Knit Out and Crochet Too? Come on crocheters, represent! I am playing with the idea of volunteering, but would be more likely if someone else wanted to do it with me.

If you are crafty but can't/don't want to go, would you consider making an 8"X8" afghan square from a machine washable material? I am willing to bring them in for people who want to donate but not go.
