Jan. 2nd, 2007
Today is my first "regular" day back at work (meaning that there are people other than our research group in the building). So I figured that now is a good time for a recap of my holiday period adventures.
Roger came back on Dec 22, and we managed to spend a whole 3 awake hours together before we went to visit each of our respective families. Somehow in the rush I managed to leave just about all of my "essentials": wallet, t-pass, and cell phone. The weekend went on regardless. I saw lots of family, ate ham, and slept a bunch.
After I came back from the town my family lives in I managed to do a little work and to see some friends. I met up with
ragingamazon and
cathijosephine at Harvard Square for coffee. Later
ragingamazon and I made pasta with alfredo sauce and broccoli rabe. This was really good, and I will have to experiment more with broccoli rabe in the future.
I also met up with
thanos73 and
mynext_boldmove a fair bit. First we had a Christmas party at E&J's house. Then we had dinner at the restaurant at which
mynext_boldmove works. Dinner was excellent; I got a seafood pasta dish that was fabulous. Lastly we all went over to E&J's again for New Years. This was the perfect level of activity of me. Friendly people, talking, laughing and challenging each other in Mortal Combat 3 (?). It was relaxed enough not to be stressful in the least, but it was also good to be out.
Then last night Roger and Tab returned home. We ate together for the first time in nearly a month and then curled up together to watch a Kiki's Delivery Service, which Santa brought to Tab this year. Life is good, if still stressful on the work front. I console myself that it can't continue this way much longer.
